Unusual Workout Classes to Try in London in 2026

If you’ve been working out for a while, or haven’t been a regular in a while, you might be interested in what’s available in London right now. London’s fitness scene moves fast, and there are some interesting workout classes emerging that feel different from the Reformer Pilates-heavy scene of 2022 onwards.

Lagree (Megaformer Training)

Image from KARVE, London

We suspect Lagree is about to have its big moment, much like Reformer Pilates did. Lagree is performed on a Megaformer and shares similarities with Reformer Pilates, but the movements are slower, the resistance is heavier, and the time under tension is significantly higher.

Psycle and Oncore will be opening Lagree classes this year, but you an already find excellent studios across London, including KARVE (Kensington, Chelsea and Victoria), MAD (Mayfair and Chelsea) and Blood Sweat and Tears (Angel).

If you’re wondering what to try after Reformer Pilates, Lagree is a natural next step.

Calisthenics (Functional Strength Training)

We think calisthenics is about to boom in London. Whether it’s the growing push for functional strength, the appeal of skill-based progression, or the strong sense of community, more calisthenics classes are popping up across the city all the time.

If you want to learn how to pistol squat, work towards a pull-up or muscle-up, or train on gymnastic rings, this is a fantastic class to try. It might sound intimidating, but unlike a lot of fitness classes everybody has had to start from a similar level. Even if you turn up able to do a pull-up, you will still need to start from scratch on other skills. For this reason, we think it is fantastic and we haven’t found it intimidating despite big ranges of ability in the same class.

If you want an inclusive, friendly class with a fantastic instructor we recommend Finn Love. They are very passionate about making trans- and queer-friendly fitness spaces, but are welcoming to everybody, no matter your fitness level. You can currently find Finn teaching at East of Eden (Walthamstow) - also teaching Barre - and The Rogue Room (Shoreditch).

Versa Climbing (Low-Impact Cardio)

Versa Climbing at BXR

This is a slightly rogue suggestion, but Versa Climbing is one of the most unique workout classes in London. It’s a low-impact cardio workout set to club music with big lights — think sweaty, immersive, and surprisingly addictive.

The best place to try Versa Climbing is with BXR in City or Marylebone, and we particularly like Ben Yates’ class. The challenge is to climb a vertical mile, making this a brilliant option for cardio without high impact.

It’s also an excellent cross-training workout, especially if you run or lift. You can currently get a free first class, details are shared in our monthly newsletter.

Rebounding (Trampoline Fitness)

Rebounding at FRAME

With vibration plates everywhere right now, rebounding is the original lymphatic drainage workout and far more fun. Rebounding classes use mini trampolines combined with simple choreography set to music.

FRAME runs brilliant rebounding classes, and it’s one we love doing with friends. It’s low impact, works your legs and stability, and is guaranteed to improve your mood.

Indoor Cycling

Psycle’s studio

Indoor cycling studios have been struggling in London in the last five years, with several closures. Whilst we appreciate that workout styles go in and out of fashion, we absolutely love both classic spin and metrics-style rides and with the rise of long-distance running. Spin is low impact, high cardio, and one of the best workouts to support endurance without increasing injury risk. We include it on this list as we think it is currently under-appreciated in London.

If you’re a fan of classic spin classes (push-up on the bike style), we recommend Ash Rides LDN, an independent business that currently operates in Gymbox studios and has excellent playlists. Ash also teaches at East of Eden, and there are often opportunities to bring a friend for free on Fridays. The whole ethos is anti-diet, anti-indimidation and the rides are really fun and inclusive to all, no matter your fitness level or how you identify or look.

Psycle also do great spin classes, but they usually feel more challenging than other studios. We really like Lisa Mags and Darius’ classes, although that’s because we really enjoy working out to rave music. Another great studio is Boomcycle in Battersea and Hammersmith.

There are fewer metrics classes available, but you’ll find them at Gymbox, Revolt, Boomcycle and Third Space. If you fancy spin class karaoke, you can find that at Cadence in Crouch End.
